Shanghai Stadium (666 Tianyaoqiao Lu, near Lingling Lu, Xuhui district, Shanghai) – this arena was built in 1997 for the 8th National Games of the People’s Republic of China. It can hold about 80,000 people, so it is also called the “80,000 people’s Stadium”. It is one of the thirty largest football stadiums in the world, and is the third largest stadium in China after the Guangdong Olympic Stadium and the Beijing National Stadium. The stadium is the home ground for the Shanghai SIPG FC, who play in the Chinese super league, and was the site for football preliminaries at the 2008 Summer Olympics.
